The Greater Cleveland Chapter of the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE) has established a Law Enforcement Mentoring Program aimed at supporting new and experienced law enforcement officers.
This program facilitates a partnership between seasoned professionals (mentors) and individuals with less experience (mentees) to promote both personal and professional development within the field of law enforcement. Mentors possess diverse backgrounds, including law enforcement, security, legal professions, education, and other specialized areas.
Participation in the program requires that both mentors and mentees are members of NOBLE with dues fully paid. Additionally, both parties must complete a vetting process administered by the Professional Development Committee. Mentors are expected to have a minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in law enforcement or possess equivalent training and education. Furthermore, they are required to execute a mentoring agreement and submit their credentials for the Committee’s review.
Individuals seeking a mentor must complete an application and a mentoring agreement. The Committee will assess the submissions and match mentors with mentees according to their specific needs. Once a match is established, the Professional Development Chair will facilitate the introduction of both parties.
The mentoring relationship is typically established for a duration of six months and may be either formal or informal, reflecting the objectives of the mentee. During this period, activities may include role modeling, networking, and regular meetings. Upon conclusion of the mentoring relationship, mentees are expected to provide an evaluation of their experience.
